How to Survive Living at Home for the Summer



You did it – you made it through the year, and the final push is always the hardest, isn’t it? Cramming for finals, cramming in one last all-nighter with friends, trying to squeeze out every last ounce of this experience before the inevitable: moving back home for the summer. Just when you were getting used to the freedom of college, it’s time to transition back home.

You have rosy visions of sleeping until noon, spending your days at the beach, spending nights with friends. But once the novelty wears off, you’re left with one undeniable truth: you’re living at home again… with your parents. There’s talk about curfews and “contributing to the house,” and all of a sudden it seems like this is going to be a long summer…

But a positive attitude will go a long way. We know how challenging it can be for students and parents alike to adjust and merge their lifestyles, even for a summer. It’s challenging, but it’s not impossible – we’ve all done it, and we want to help make the transition easier. So here are some tips for how to survive living at home for the summer:
