1. George and Marion Plossl Doctoral Dissertation Competition: $2,500, Deadline: June 15, 2014
Applicants for this award must be candidates for a doctorate in operations management (or a closely related field) at a fully accredited university. Your dissertation proposal approved by the thesis committee (not completed at the time of submission) is required to be submitted.
2. Billy Welu Memorial Scholarship: $1,000, Deadline: June 15, 2014
The Professional Bowlers Association Billy Welu Scholarship recognizes both academic and athletic excellence in male and female college students who compete in the sport of bowling.
3. Jimmy A. Young Memorial Education Recognition Award: $1,000, Deadline: June 15, 2014
This scholarship from the American Respiratory Care Foundation awards up to $1,000 in memory of Jimmy A. Young, past president of the AARC, who contributed greatly to respiratory care education. Applicants must provide verification of enrollment in an accredited respiratory care training program.
4. Starfleet Scholarship Program: $1,000, Deadline: June 15, 2014
Beam us up, Scotty! Members of the official Star Trek fan club can qualify for scholarships of up to $1,000 if they are enrolled in any form of higher education.

5. Paralyzed Veterans of America: $1,000, Deadline: June 17, 2014
This program was started to provide some financial reprieve for Paralyzed Veterans members and their families so that they may achieve their academic goals. Applicants must either be a Paralyzed Veteran member or the spouse or dependent child of a paralyzed veteran.
6. BigSun Scholarship: $500, Deadline: June 20, 2014
The BigSun Organization is proud to help young athletes succeed in their academic pursuits by offering an annual scholarship to a deserving student. All student athletes are eligible for this award, regardless of which sport they participate in.
7. 50/50/50 Grant: 50% tuition, Deadline: rolling
Kaplan University and AARP’s Life Reimagined have partnered to offer the first 50 applicants who are at least 50 years old a 50% tuition reduction toward a variety of master’s, bachelor’s, associate’s, or for-credit certificate programs in a wide range of fields, including business, IT, nursing, health care, and education.
