This scholarship contest for high school students in grades 9-12 requires an original essay describing an act of political courage by a U.S. elected official that occurred during or after 1956.

2. Dale E. Fridell Memorial Scholarship: $1000, Deadline January 14, 2015
This scholarship for graduating high school seniors requires an essay answering the question: Why is the completion of a postsecondary program important to you and what do you hope to achieve once you get a degree?

3. HSF/Gates Millenium Scholarship: varies, Deadline: January 14, 2015
Funded by a $1.6 billion grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, this scholarship will provide greater access and opportunity to higher education for outstanding 1000 students per year from underrepresented backgrounds.

4-11. BMW / SAE Engineering Scholarships:$1000-$5000, Deadline: January 15, 2015 
The Society of automotive Engineers offers 8 different scholarships to students pursuing various engineering professions.

12. Rhodes Merit Scholarship-Bellingrath: Full tuition, Deadline: January 15, 2015
This prestigious Rhodes Scholarship provides for full tuition tin recognition of an individual student’s academic talent, service or leadership achievements.

13. FACT Continuing Education Scholarship: $2,500-$10,000, Deadline: January 15, 2015
The Federation of American Consumers and Travelers offers these college scholarships to members, or the children and grandchildren of its membership.

14. The Barry Goldwater Scholarship: $7,000, Deadline: January 23, 2015
The Barry Goldwater Scholarship and Excellence in Education Program awards scholarships to scholarships to college students who intend to pursue careers in STEM fields.

15. Military Spouse Scholarships: $500-$2,500, Deadline: January 31, 2015
The mission of this scholarship program is to help prepare military spouses for meaningful employment and to better contribute to their family’s financial security.

16. NABA National Scholarship Program: $1,500, Deadline: January 31, 2015
The National Association of Black Accountants awards scholarships to qualified students preparing to enter various accounting, finance and business professions.

17. NROTC Scholarship: Full Tuition, Deadline: January 31, 2015
The Navy ROTC award includes full tuition, books, lab fees, and a $250 per month stipend to attend the Navy’s ROTC program in a participating college.

18. Kaplan University Achievement Scholarship: $12, 759, Deadline: Rolling
Kaplan University has established the Achievement Scholarship for new students enrolling in Kaplan University’s undergraduate degree programs.

19. OSA/MRS Congressional Fellowship: $72,000, Deadline: January 2, 2015
This Congressional Fellowship allows a student to work for one year as a special legislative assistant on the staff of a member of Congress or congressional committee to broaden awareness of the value of scientist- and engineer-government interaction among our memberships, the federal government, and the public..

20. SDE Fellowship: $2,500, Deadline: January 15, 2015
This fellowship from the Graduate Women in Science is for a woman who holds a degree from a recognized institution of higher learning, and is able to show documented evidence of outstanding ability and promise in research.

21. Rhodes Fellowhips-Taylor Fellowship in Physics: $15,000, Deadline January 15, 2015
This fellowship from the prestigious Rhodes College provides talented high school physics students the means to continue their investigations at the college level.Applicant must be majoring or minoring in physics.

22. Boren Fellowship: $24,000, Deadline: January 27, 2015
Boren Fellowships provide U.S. graduate students the opportunity to add an important international and language component to their graduate education through specialization in area study, language study, or increased language proficiency.
